Halloween Protein Treats: Spooky Ghost Banana Pops

Halloween Protein Treats: Spooky Ghost Banana Pops

Spooky season has officially hit its stride as Halloween inches closer letting us convince ourselves we can cheat on our diet with all the king-size Reese’s Fast Breaks and Snickers bars our little ones bring home from a long night of Trick or Treating because, you know, “candy inspection”, am I right?

Halloween is without a doubt, the most fun time of the year. So, why not add to the fun by getting creative with some spooky treats that pack a healthy and flavorful punch! After all, it’s Halloween -- everyone’s entitled to one good scare (and tasty snacks).

As I strolled through Pinterest looking for ideas, I found some perfect ways to make this protein-packed vision come to life that really sets the fall mood. So, forget the sugar-coma-inducing candy bars and opt for these one-of-a-kind snacks that the whole family will love!

Let me take you through how I make these delicious Vanilla Protein Ghost Cups!

      Here's What You'll Need:

1 box sugar-free vanilla pudding mix / 170g vanilla Greek yogurt Bananas
2 cups of mixed berries ½ serving of chocolate chips or honey-roasted almonds
1 ¾ scoop NuEthix Medipure DS – Vanilla Wafer Zero sugar Reese’s miniature cups
      Basic popsicle sticks Mason jars

To bring these little guys to life, you’ll need to grab the ingredients listed above and make sure you have the capability to be creative because you might create something scarier than what is pictured…

Once you have everything rounded up and ready to go, it’s time to start!

Make sure you set the ambiance by loading up some of the cult classics like Halloween 1978 (please, for the love of God – not Rob Zombie’s version) or good old Hocus Pocus. Trust me, this instantly will make your ghosts more anabolic by the time you’re finished.

Once the mood has been set, take your vanilla pudding mix or Greek yogurt and mix in 1 ¾ scoop of NuEthix Medipure DS and stir until consistent. Set your base aside, grab one of your mason jars and take a handful of your mixed berries and graciously fill the jar up about ½ way making sure you leave room for the additional ingredients.

After you have a good base set up, take your bananas, slice them in half and dip them in the excess Greek yogurt/vanilla pudding. After that, you’ll take your banana slice and insert the popsicle stick from the bottom.

Gently take one blueberry and 2 mini chocolate chips and ever so Picassoesque make them somehow look like a face with the chocolate chips being the eyes and your blueberry acting as the mouth. Once that is completed and you’re confident it looks right, go ahead and place this into the freezer to set for about 30 minutes. Keep in mind, if you’re making additional treats, you will just need to repeat the process depending on how many you plan on creating.

While you wait for the banana ghosts to harden up, go ahead and create your graveyard topping by crushing up some of the honey-roasted almonds and one of the zero-sugar chocolate peanut butter cups. Sprinkle the chocolatey goodness compound on top of your yogurt/pudding base sparingly. Take one of the chocolate peanut butter cups and use this as your tombstone.

Now to add the final piece, your banana ghost! Go ahead and pop that in the top while making sure it’s secured into the layer’s underneath and voila! You now have a spectacular healthy Halloween treat that’s incredibly simple but also tastes fantastic.

Go ahead, share them with the kiddos, or snack on them all by yourself!
